Adult Sunday School

8:00 - 10:00 am Bible Study
Adult Bible Study  (Education Basement) Mixed Adults
If you want to commit to a reasonable amount of daily Bible reading plus a little extra time on Sunday morning to dig deeper into God's Word and share your insights with others, this study group may be for you!

Common Ground   (Room B201) Late 20s to Early 50s
Yes, the coffee and conversation is always brewing in the Common Ground adult Sunday school class.  Founded seven years ago by a group of visitors, Common Ground is a discussion-based class with a varied curriculum based on spiritual growth.  Several social events and mission outreach projects are planned each year.  Visitors are welcomed and appreciated!
 
Daly Thompson Women's Bible Class  (Room C201) Senior Adult Women
Curriculum is Adult Bible Study Series.  This class makes donations in the form of memorials, honorariums to the Foundation Fund, and contributions to the Head Start program.  Members are active in Meals on Wheels, the Sewing Circle, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
 
Fruit of the Spirit  (Church Basement) Women of All Ages
Mission:  To grow in the fruit of the Holy Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.  This class was formed to minister especially to those who are single, widowed or may find attending SS without their spouse more comfortable with women only.  Some of the ladies have husbands in the 8:00 am Bible study during SS, while others may meet them at the Worship Service at 10:30.  The goal for the class is to grow in fruit of the Holy Spirit through the study of God's Word with application.
 
Good News  (Room B205) Middle Aged & Retired
Established by Pastor Jerry Mayo in 1988, it grew to 32 members by August of that year.  The class now has 50+ members.  Focus of this class is to teach the Good News of the New Testament as well as study ancient Biblical times.  Teachers come from among the class membership, but no one is pressured to teach.  If you like to teach, you are welcome to do so.  Activities include church projects, fundraising, day trips, attend functions, and gather at class members' homes for fun and fellowship.  Come join us and hear the Good News!
 
Horace Edgmon  (Room B101) 65 and Up
Our church's largest senior adult Sunday school class, we study from the Adult Bible Study Series and gather for fun and fellowship activities.  Join us!
 
Kindred Spirits A  (Room B104) Couples & Singles, Mid 30s to Mid 50s
Meets at both the 9:00 and 10:30 Sunday school hour.  The curriculum consists of the study of different books of the Bible or different topics which inspire open discussion.  Once a month the class meets for lunch after Sunday school.  Kindred Spirits is involved with "My Friends House."
 
Living Word  (Room C302) Couples & Singles, 35 & Up
Recognizing the Bible as the Divinely inspired Word of God, we desire to study and apply its teachings to our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.  This is our newest Sunday school class and it is growing each month!  All who are interested in studying God's Word are welcome.
 
Voyagers  (Room B214) Couples & Singles, 40s to 60s
Started in the early 1980s as a Bible Study class with the church's minister as the teacher.  The curriculum is still based on the study of various books of the Bible with several class members serving as teacher leaders on a rotating basis.
 
W. C. Yates Men's Bible Study  (Room B107) Senior Adult Men
This class was established in 1880!  This group studies the Adult Bible Study Series.  Men of all ages are invited to study and enjoy fellowship together.
 
10:30 am Sunday School
Aldersgate  (Room B214) Couples & Singles, 35 to 55
Caring for another in our Church family....doing all the good we can at all the times we can....to all the people we can.  We discuss timely issues as we seek to follow Christ in our faith walk with lively discussions using two-six week studies using the Bible/books/videos/lectures.
 
Amanda Young  (Room B203) Couples & Singles, Late 30s to Early 50s
Mission:  To grow together in God's love as we seek & study His word, applying these studies to our daily lives.  This class supports various children's charities.
 
Disciple  (Room B205) Primarily 30s, 40s, & 50s
Disciple Sunday school is an intergenerational class journeying through the Bible together to seek scriptural guidance as we endeavor to be "salt and light" in our world outside of Church.  This is not a Disciple Bible Study group, though study of the Bible is our focus.  As a small group, we encourage each other in our faith and enjoy laughter and Christian fellowship centered in Jesus Christ.  Class members rotate as teachers on a volunteer basis.
 
Faith Followers  (Room B103) 35 & Up
Class discussion is promoted using the Serendipity Bible and other books.  Scripture is read and discussed to help each other learn more about the Word of God and relate the message to our everyday lives.  We welcome you to give us a  try!
 
Kindred Spirits B  (Room B104) Couples & Singles, Mid 30s to Mid 50s

Koinonia  (Room B212) Couples & Singles, 55 to 75
The Koinonia (Greek word for Fellowship) Class is a discussion style class lead by several class members who serve as rotating teachers .  The curriculum includes Bible study and current religious issues.  The class is involved in numerous mission ministries throughout the year and several members are actively involved in VIM projects, Habitat for Humanity and Nomads.
 
McSwiney  (Room B204) Couples & Singles, 55 & up
This class is a caring and supporting community with the primary source of curriculum being the Adult Bible Study Series.  It focuses on scripture and how we apply these teachings to our everyday lives.
 
Providers (Room B210) Parents of Elementary or Preschool Children, Generally in 30s & 40s
Mission:  To be an active group of adults who discuss contemporary issues and gain strength from one another through spiritual perspectives.
 
Seeker's  (Room B201) Couples & Singles, 40s & Up
The mission of the Seeker's Class is to celebrate and share God's love through a combination of self-instruction and occasional presentations by guest speakers on topics of particular interest.  Class members are active church volunteers who enjoy frequent fellowship opportunities with our families.
 
Weekly Readers  (Room B211) Couples & Singles, Various Ages
A group book study of thought-provoking authors such as Henri Nouwen, Marcus Borg, Philip Yancey and Elaine Pagles, typically reading and discussing one book per month.
 
Works in Progress  (Room B101) Couples with Children, Mid 20s to Early 40s
We are a discussion based Sunday school class.  We come together to learn more about Christ, worship Him, and strengthen each other in our human situation and realizing that we are all Works in Progress.  Couples with children have always been our niche since a portion of our studies include both parenting and marriage relationship enhancement.
 

Through Adult Education at Franklin First we know that you will grow closer with God
and have a sense of fellowship. 
Part of our Christian journey is to come together to learn the Word of God.
