A RESOLUTION FROM THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE TO A CHURCH CONFERENCE TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2004 AT 4:00 P.M . FOR THE MERGER OF FRIENDSHIP UNITED METHODIST CHURCH INTO FRANKLIN FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
WHEREAS, the Friendship United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church have both served faithfully the call of ministry and discipleship of Jesus, the Christ within the Franklin, Tennessee community; and
WHEREAS, the Friendship United Methodist Church, 700 New Highway Ninety Six West, Franklin, Tennessee has indicated by resolution its intention and desire to be merged into the Franklin First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, such a merger would further the mission of both congregations and would serve as an example of sisters and brothers connecting together for the cause of making Disciples for Jesus, the Christ;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Long Range Planning Committee makes the following motion: That the Church family welcome the merger of the Friendship United Methodist Church, with all real estate properties of the Friendship United Methodist Church to be transferred to the First United Methodist Church to be held in trust. Real Estate fixtures of the Friendship United Methodist Church that exist at the time of the merger are to be used by the First United Methodist Church for ministry or sold if not useable for ministry purposes. As required by Resolution of Friendship United Methodist Church; if and/or when the said real property/ies are sold and/or leased, the monies received, after all indebtedness of Friendship United Methodist Church is paid in full, shall be used for the sole purpose of purchasing new property/ies for the purpose of a new location of the merged churches.
