Parent's Day Out Program

General Information:

Our Parent's Day Out program is specifically planned for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years of age.   Children applying for admission must be 18 months old by September 30th of the school year and must be under three years of age by the same date.

Just as a reminder, all children enrolled in the Preschool program as Three Year Olds, Four Year Olds, or Pre-Kindergarten must be potty trained to be in the program.  We recommend that parents begin this training prior to the summer months to ensure that their child meets this requirement.

Parent's Day Out classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  The program begins the Wednesday following Labor Day and continues through the third week of May.

We follow the Williamson County School calendar for holidays and for snow closings.

Activities and Events:

Holiday Celebrations:  Pumpkin Hunt and Halloween Party; Christmas breakfast with Christmas Elf; Valentine's Party; Easter Egg Hunt

Philosophy:

We believe that the whole child is very important.  Each child's total development includes spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical growth.  We believe that the child should be provided an opportunity to develop each of these areas at his/her own pace.  We believe that a child's self-worth and self-esteem are of vital importance.  We believe that an atmosphere of love, warmth, and safety should be provided for each child.  This experience will probably be the child's first regular group encounter with other children.   It is, therefore, crucially important that this event be positive, uplifting, and enjoyable.  The trust extended to us by parents is never taken lightly.  We will constantly strive to make this a pleasant and meaningful experience for your child.

Program:

Our program is designed to give each child a loving Christian atmosphere in which to grow and learn about the world around him/her through play, music, and art.  In art we will work with paints, play dough, crayons and a variety of materials.  We will read stories and use puppets to tell stories, as well.  Our activities will be adapted to the capabilities of the children we are working with.  As the children grow, so will our activities.  We will offer music, learn to respond to music, sing songs, and play musical games.  During the year we have special days for the children.  Last, we want our program to begin teaching your child how to share, take turns, and play with other children.

Staff:

Our teachers are highly qualified through years of experience and/or formal education in childhood development.  Each teacher is CPR certified for both adults and children.  Our adult to child ratios are as follows:

Teddy Bear Toddlers (young twos)     2:8

    Playful Pandas (young twos)               2:8

    Terrific Tigers (twos)                          2:10

    Playful Jungle (older twos)                 2:10

Fees and Tuition:

Registration fee:  $40, non-refundable

Cultural/Supply Fee:  An annual fee of $70 is due in September.

Tuition: Tuition for Monday and Wednesday Parent's Day Out (children who are 18 months of age by Sept. 30 of the current school year, but not yet Three Years Old by the same date) is $150 for 9:00 - 1:00 on Monday and Wednesday.

Monday and Wednesday Three Year Old class, 9:00 - 1:00 is $150 - open first to children who have a sibling attending Parent's Day Out.

Pre-School Program

General Information:

Our pre-school program serves three, four, and five year old children who have not entered Kindergarten.  Children applying for Admission must be three years old by September 30th of the school year.

Our pre-school classes meet on a variety of schedules:

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, two three year old classes from 9 am - 1 pm $150 per month.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, one three day young fours class and one three day pre-K class (Kindergarten readiness) from 9 am - 1 pm, $200 per month.

The program begins the Thursday following Labor Day and continues through the third week of May.  We follow the Williamson County School calendar for holidays and for snow closings.

Activities and Events:

Music and movement time; holiday celebrations

Special Days:  pajama day, special me day, Mother's Day Tea, Donuts with Dad

Special Visitors:  puppets with Ms. Jill; Magic with Scott; Animal Visitors with Ms. Turner

Field Trips (may vary): Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Patch; Theatre Visits, Easter Celebration, Post Office, Nature Center Visit and Picnic; Kindergarten Visit (four's)

Academics:

The Three Year Old Program focuses on thematic units and the development of fine motor skills.  The alphabet, numbers, and shapes are introduced and shapes are reviewed.

The Fours continually review the alphabet and numeric skills through individual emphasis and thematic approach.   Colors, shapes, knowledge of telephone number and address, as well as some writing skills are also emphasized.  Fine motor skills continue to be developed.

The Pre-Kindergarten program for the oldest fours and young fives continues the emphasis of the four year old's program, but adds the use of journals, science experiments, and problem solving activities for additional readiness.

Philosophy:

We believe that the whole child is very important.  Each child's total development includes spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical growth.  We believe that the child should be provided as opportunity to develop each of these areas at his/her own pace.

We believe the child's self-worth and self-esteem are of vital importance.

We believe that an atmosphere of love and warmth should be provided for each child.  A child's experience in preschool is a most important experience for him/her.  This experience may be the child's first regular group encounter with other children.  It is, therefore, crucially important that this event be positive, uplifting, and enjoyable.

We realize the trust extended to us and we sincerely desire to create a pleasant and positive environment for your child.   All areas of interest, such as music, art, exercise, story time, free play (inside and out) and small group learning, are part of our curriculum.

Staff:

Our teachers are highly qualified through years of experience and/or formal education in childhood development.  Each teacher is CPR certified and completes several hours of continuing education annually.   First United Methodist Preschool is a licensed facility under the supervision of the State of Tennessee.

Fees and Tuition:

Registration fee:  $40, non-refundable

Cultural/Supply fee:  An annual fee of $70 is due in September.

Tuition:  Tuition for pre-school is determined by the classes and number of days per week enrolled.  Tuesday/Thursday classes (3's only) are $150 per month.  Tuesday/Thursday/Friday classes (4's and 5's) are $200 a month.  Tuition is a set monthly fee and will not fluctuate due to absences, holidays, or months with five weeks.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Four Year Old Pre-K class, 9:00 - 1:00 is $250 per month.  This class is designed for the oldest of our children, consideration is given first to those older four year olds who have a younger sibling attending Monday and Wednesday PDO and to those currently enrolled in any Four Year Old class at First UMC.  This will be a 16 member class with two teachers and is geared for those attending Kindergarten the following year.

Tuesday and Thursday Preschool - Three Year Old classes - 9:00 - 1:00 is $150 per month.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Preschool - Young Fours class - 9:00 - 1:00 is $200 per month.  This class is geared for children who will be turning Four before the end of the calendar year but will most likely not be attending kindergarten the next year.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Preschool - Fours / Pre-K is $200 per month.  This is our three day option for Fours / Pre-K's who will likely attend Kindergarten the following year.  In substance, curriculum and content, this class aligns with the Four Day Class.  The difference is in the number of days a week, not in the coverage of essential readiness skills.

INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION
  1. It snows!  In case of snow (or other weather-related situations), watch the local TV affiliates (Channels 2, 4, 5, and 6) for snow closing information.  First United Methodist Preschool goes with Williamson County School District on snow closings.

  2. If Williamson County Schools announce a delayed opening of one hour, we will also open one hour late at 10:00 a.m.  If Williamson County Schools announce a delayed opening of two hours, we will open late at 10:30 a.m.

  3. If Williamson County School System closes unexpectedly early during the day due to inclement weather, we will close early.  We will close at the time listed for the high school/middle school which is generally one hour earlier than that listed for the elementary schools.  We go with the the County at this time because our teachers have had no advance notice to make arrangements for their own children.

Again, listen to the local radio stations (WAKM 950), watch Channel 3 (WCS station) or the local affiliates (Channel 2, 4, 5, or 6), and keep in contact with either your home voice mail or your cell voice mail in case the school tries to call.
