The Wednesday Night Live program at Franklin First UMC is one of the most comprehensive events in the life of our church. Wednesday Night Live is a place where you can find renewal.  A renewal that shapes us, strengthens our relationships with others and most importantly, draws us closer to Christ.

.

Beginning in January and running through mid-May, the program includes dinner, choir rehearsals, and Bible studies for children, youth, and adults. A combination of regularly scheduled programs and special workshops are offered throughout the year.

For more information on Wednesday Night Live programs or about Franklin First United Methodist Church, contact Mark Coursey, Minister of Evangelism and Program.

For Adults Spring 2012

Pastor’s Bible Study

Please join us as Dr. Lynn Hill continues a study in the book of Acts.  Through this study we’ll see how the Book of Acts is more than first century church history; it is a narrative about the Triune God on an unstoppable mission to the ends of the earth.  Open to all adults. Sanctuary East

Toxic Charity – Book Discussion Group

In “Toxic Charity,” Lupton urges individuals, churches, and organizations to step away from these spontaneous, often destructive acts of compassion toward thoughtful paths to community development. He delivers proven strategies for moving from toxic charity to transformative charity. Proposing a powerful “Oath for Compassionate Service” and spotlighting real-life examples of people serving not just with their hearts but with proven strategies and tested tactics, Lupton offers all the tools and inspiration we need to develop healthy, community-driven programs that produce deep, measurable, and lasting change. Everyone who volunteers or donates to charity needs to wrestle with this book.  Room B-214

Defenders of the Faith – Led by Tim Palmer

Sometimes the most critical question comes from what we do not understand.  In this unique class we will study the historical, archaeological, scientific, and philosophical evidence that supports Christianity.   We will see that God gives us plenty of evidence to support and strengthen our beliefs.  By the end of our time together you’ll know how to answer those tough questions about our faith. Room B-204

Why? – Led by Vona Wilson

When we lift our prayers to God, and no answer seems to come; when we earnestly seek to know the will of God for our lives, yet can’t seem to discern it; when God seems far away; where is God? If God counts the hairs on our head, and knows every sparrow that falls, why is finding and understanding God’s will so difficult at times. In Why? Making Sense of God’s Will
best-selling author Adam Hamilton brings fresh insight to the age-old question of how to understand the will of God. Room B-202

The American Civil War – Led by John Williams

This video series takes a look at how God works in the triumphs and disappointments that are a part of our history and our lives. Each week we’ll tie in what we can learn from history to give our current lives a greater focus and meaning.  Room B-104.

Women’s Bible Study “So Long Insecurity” – Led by Melissa Seehorn

In today’s image saturated society, insecurity among women is reaching epidemic levels.  We worry about everything–from our looks to our finances to our relationships.  But it doesn’t have to be this way.  It’s time to say, “So Long!” to insecurity and focus instead on becoming better wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends God intended us to be.  Women, join us for this exciting study from Beth Moore.  Room B-205 from 6:30 – 7:15.

Foundations – SERVE – Led by Helen Lombardo

God’s people are called to love and serve one another.  Jesus tells his disciples “Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.  This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.” Each Wednesday night, we will come together to SERVE through mission projects.  Some SERVE projects will be on-site, while others will take place beyond the church walls.  Each SERVE program will consist of a devotional, service project, and debriefing.   Youth will have the opportunity to grow in faith, put their faith into action now, and connect with one another and those they SERVE.    7th-12th Grade – 3rd Floor
