  1. Complete the volunteer form above.  When you hit “send” it will go directly to Becky’s email in our offices. 
  2. Look for an email from Sarah Carty, scarty@franklinfumc.org, or a First K.I.D.S. Coordinator for your area of interest to get you started.
  3. Complete the Volunteer Information Form and Background Form, and attend Safe Sanctuary training. Contact Sarah for a schedule of Safe Sanctuary training.
  4. The Children’s Ministry staff will provide training and connection to your specific area of ministry.
  5. Have fun as your experience the wonder of children as they learn to become disciples of Jesus Christ!


Volunteer Opportunities Defined:

As you review the list of programming, I hope you discover where your skills and interests fit. The volunteers who are a part of First K.I.D.s find purpose and fulfillment by sharing in our mission. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about this vital ministry.

  • Children’s Greeter Teams
    Greet new families who visit and escort them to Children’s Sunday school classrooms on Sunday mornings. Greeter teams point the way and offer radical hospitality in the Children’s Sunday school areas. This is a way families can serve together.
  • Office Assistants
    Are administrative details your specialty? Help the First K.I.D.s staff and the children by helping with behind-the-scenes work on an as-needed basis with mailings, emails, collating, etc.
  • Teacher Enrichment & Safe Sanctuary Training
    Teacher Enrichment – On a quarterly basis all age level teachers are equipped to become successful, effective teachers. Opportunity is given for communication with other team teachers at each session.
  • Children’s Worship Bag Team
    This team prepares the Children’s Worship bags that give children quiet activities to use during worship services.
  • First Time Visitor Team
    Do you like to make people feel welcome and show the gift of hospitality? Help welcome first time visitor families with children to Franklin First UMC by sending information regarding Children’s ministry. Join the team and serve on a rotating basis.
  • Special Friends
    Special Friends serve children with special needs as a one-on-one helper in the classroom. Volunteers are assigned to one child and serve on a rotating schedule.
  • KA-BAM
    Adult leaders for both large group and small group programming help facilitate each age level – preschool, elementary, older elementary. Come help unlock the mystery of God’s love with children on Wednesday nights!
  • Nursery Team
    Need your “baby fix?” Offer the gift of personally knowing our youngest ones as they enter the room. Help create a safe, loving environment that creates a special reason for families to come back each week.
  • First Families Team
    Join with others to help plan and create our Special events – Easter Eggstravaganza, Fun in the Son Family Carnival and more! All of these events allow families with children to learn and build relationships together.
  • Sunday School Teachers
    Sunday school teachers guide our children to develop relationships in the classroom and encourage children in their faith journey to know, share, and follow Jesus Christ. Sunday school teachers prepare a class lesson each week using curriculum.
  • Sunday School Shepherds
    Sunday school shepherds help children transition from parents to the classrooms and allows teachers to teach and develop relationships with children in a classroom setting.
  • Classroom Setup
    Is your spiritual gift assisting? Classroom set-up volunteers help prepare classrooms each week for Sunday school. This includes wiping tables, putting out sign-in rosters, and restocking supplies.
  • Prayer Partner
    Are you a person with the gift of faith? Become a prayer partner in the First K.I.D.s programs! There is always a need to cover the staff, children, parents, and programs with prayer.
  • Curriculum Sorters
    Is your spiritual gift helping? Curriculum sorters help prepare curriculum for classrooms each quarter by collating curriculum for teacher-friendly usage.
  • Sunday School Supply Room
    The supply room is the busiest place on Sunday mornings! Help keep supplies stocked and in their proper places by putting supplies away and alerting staff as to what supplies need ordering.
