Helping Ministries

First Friends

First Friends is a visitation ministry to those in our church who have limited mobility and are not able to be in fellowship with the church on a regular basis. Lay visitors are bright spots in the ordinary day as they visit, share hope and develop friendships. If you would like to share in this ministry or if you need a “friend” to visit you on a regular basis, please contact Greg or Kris Smith at kdsmithgt@earthlink.net.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

A prayer shawl ministry team meets every Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. to knit and pray. Their creations of prayer shawls are shared with those in need of prayer when walking through difficult experiences in their lives. This ministry is a beautiful expression of the community of faith and brings much joy and comfort to those who serve and those who receive. New knitters are always welcome! Contact Helen Babb at dnbabb@aol.com for more information. If you need a prayer shawl to offer to someone in need please contact Rev. Vona Wilson in the church office or by email at vwilson@franklinfumc.org.

Flower Ministry

Every Sunday we have beautiful flowers on the altars of our sanctuaries. On Monday morning these arrangements are taken down and many bouquets are made and delivered to nursing homes and private homes. It is a joy for the flower ministry servants to share this beauty with others.

Willing Hands Ministry

Sometimes you just need a little help! Maybe it’s in changing light bulbs or a ride or a ramp that needs to be built. Willing Hands is a team of people who just step up and help meet random requests that people in the congregation need. When we receive a request, we email it to our “willing hands” friends and whoever is able to take the lead and see that the need is taken care just does it! It’s an awesome expression of “love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15)
