Stephen Ministry

… When you or someone you know is hurting…

Stephen Ministers are caring, committed lay members of our congregation who have received intense training in various helping skills. They are available to provide confidential Christian care giving. If there is a time when you feel the need to talk to someone regarding stresses you are facing, please don’t hesitate to call Vona Wilson, 615-794-2734, or Bonnie Kays, 615-791-8014. If you know someone you think might benefit from talking with a Stephen Minister, here are the steps you can take to pave the way for him or her to benefit from Stephen Ministry:

  1. Mention that our church has a Stephen Ministries program and that you feel that he or she might benefit from talking with a Stephen Minister.
  2. Ask the person for permission to talk with a Stephen Leader about the possibility of a Stephen Minister being assigned.
  3. Promptly contact Vona Wilson or Bonnie Kays about the person’s interest in possibly having a Stephen Minister. One of our Stephen Leaders will contact the person to discuss Stephen Ministry in detail and assign a Stephen Minister if one is available and appropriate.

A new group of Stephen Ministers is trained periodically. If you would like to learn about the possibility of becoming a Stephen Minister, contact Vona Wilson at vwilson@franklinfumc.org.
