Japan Relief Offering
The response to the crisis in Japan involves all of us. For that reason the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has suggested a special offering is taken to help a nation in the grip of crisis. One hundred percent of every gift will go to this designated cause. This offering was taken on March 20, 2011; but gifts to this cause can be made at any time at the link provided below. For more on the story of how UMCOR is stepping up to help with the crisis in Japan.
Guatemala
Each year a team travels to Guatemala to do continuing work on the La Toma School. We will be working in the La Toma area where we have been for the last 9 years making additions and renovations to the school/church/clinic and neighborhoods where Felix and Manuel pastor. We have purchased land to build an additional school and we may have the opportunity to begin that structure as well.

Congo
Franklin First United Methodist also provides support and scholarships for seminary students in the Congo. In 2008 we were especially blessed to be able to send enough financial support to support one complete tuition plus a significant amount toward another one! The student assigned to our scholarship in 2009 is Clare Paidamonyo Katiyo, a 23 year-old from Zimbabwe studying Health Services Management. ‘Visit the Africa University website to learn more about the students we support.

Congo seminary struggles to renew land title . . . A loan from Swiss United Methodists is helping a church-related university and mission station in the Democratic Republic of Congo in its urgent quest to renew its land title. World Vision
We have also provided abundant support for hunger relief through World Vision and raised funds. Our youth participated with other youth around the world and fasted 30 hours along.
