WHEREAS, by majority vote of a Church Conference on
November 7, 2004, authorization was given to appoint a Committee to search for
and negotiate for the purchase of appropriate land for a new site in the area,
of sufficient size to house the entire church and its programs and ministries,
with ample acreage for growth in the years ahead; and
WHEREAS, the duly appointed Site Selection and Building
Committee has located a site which is now recommended for consideration;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Church
Conference, in duly called session on February 12, 2006, approves the purchase
of the property known as District 08, Map 63, Parcel 22 of Williamson County,
Tennessee, for the purchase price of 5.8 million dollars, and directs the Board
of Trustees, the Site Selection and Building Committee, and/or other appropriate
Franklin First United Methodist Church representatives to proceed with such
acquisition after completion of all reasonable measures to protect the interests
of Franklin First United Methodist Church in this purchase.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees is
hereby directed and authorized to take all necessary steps to carry out the
action and to cause to be executed any necessary contract or other written
instrument for purposes of financing the purchase of the real property for the
stated purchase price of 5.8 million dollars.

I reject the purchase of the described real property and call on the Site
Selection and Building Committee to continue its search for a more appropriate
parcel of property on which to build Franklin First United Methodist Church’s
new church home.
