Programs & Events
After School Tutoring
61st Ave UMC hosts an after-school mentoring program for children. Volunteers help with homework while developing a relationship with a child who needs to know people care about them and are willing to invest some time in their daily life. Supplies, time, food, patience and a lot of love are all welcome gifts. To offer what you can give to support this ministry please contact Nita Haywood at 615-212-7184.
Lydia’s Little Sisters
This small group ministry for young teen girls at 61st Avenue UMC is a weekly miracle. Sharing the journey of a girl’s life through the teen years and watching them grow into faithful young ladies is the foundation of this ministry. Women are always needed to be involved in Lydia’s Little Sisters. To serve in this ministry, please contact Nita Haywood at 615-212-7184.
Last Chance Toy Store
Every Christmas season the week prior to Christmas Day, toys are gathered from donations and then distributed to thousands of needy children and their families around 61st Avenue UMC.
Light in the Nations
Light in the Nations is a partnership of neighbors and churches seeking to increase the willingness and ability of neighbors in the Nations to work together for the common good. They will pursue this end by identifying and building on strengths of the community to solve neighborhood problems together.
Health Fair and Carnival
The annual Health Fair and Carnival for the Nations Neighborhood takes place around the 3rd Saturday in September each year from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Providing basic health care checks, great music, games, food and fellowship, we connect with people in the neighborhood.
